Temperature has an important effect on lithium-ion batteries. Too low temperature will cause the performance of lithium-ion batteries to decrease or even stop working.

The working principle of a lithium ion battery is that the internal electrolyte changes through a chemical reaction, and there is a potential difference between the positive and negative electrodes to generate current. In a low-temperature environment, the electrolyte moves quite slowly, which affects the transfer activity of lithium ions between the positive and negative electrodes, resulting in a decrease in battery charge and discharge performance. Lithium-ion batteries are afraid of cold. In low-temperature environments, they will enter a hibernation state, and their power cannot be released normally.

Ordinary lithium battery will reduce its capacity by 20% when it is at zero degrees Celsius. When it reaches minus 10 degrees Celsius, its capacity may be only about half.
